Historical information: The Great Patriotic War was an unforgettable chronicle of the world history. The humanity suffered a lot on the way to victory – during the Great Patriotic War about 55 million people died. The Soviet people achieved victory for 1418 days. Heroic names of Kazakhstan soldiers are written in gold letters into the chronicle of the Great Patriotic War. 1 million 366 thousand Kazakhstan soldiers heroically fought on all front lines.
In the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 totally 122 423 men from Aktobe went to fight, 39 503 of them were lost on the fronts. 35 our fellow countrymen-soldiers became Heroes of the Soviet Union, and 9 as full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory.
Monument description: The monument complex devoted to the Heroes of the Soviet Union was ceremonially opened on September 23, 2010, in honor of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. At the entrance to the complex there are two high steles. Further, for each of the 46 soldiers from Aktobe, who received the title of Hero of the Great Patriotic War, separate steles of red granite were installed. Each stele made of bronze contains the name of warrior and his bas-relief image. The total area of the complex is 6 thousand square meters.
The sculptors of the bas-relief on the steles: Zh.Kenbai, M.Gabdrakhmanov, A.Kubai, K.Koblanov, Zh.Esengulov.
