Historical background: On April 26, 1986, the largest technogenic disaster in the history of mankind happened at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. 2000 people took part in the recovery of the consequences of the accident.
A memorial sign was erected in 2011 in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 25th anniversary of the liquidation of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
This monument was installed so that we could always keep the memory of our brothers and sisters who came back and died, who never reached their dreams, and who have become an example for young people today.
Description of the monument: The monument consists of three parts – a stylobate, a pedestal and the monument-sign showing the two palms of a man with an atom in the center. The height of the monument is 2.4 meters. There is also the text on the pedestal «Let’s give a bow to the citizens of Aktobe, who participated in liquidation of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster in 1986-1990!».
