Location: Aktobe region, Aktobe city, located in crossroads of Abay avenue and Eset batyr street.

Description of monument: Monument was installed in honor of 175 years anniversary of great poet, Abay Kunanbayev. Monument of Abay is made of bronze, he was dressed in spacious shapan with book in his hands and standing on the two tier pedestal  with height of 2,4 m, and the height of statue itself is 3,8 meters. Book in hand is a symbol of knowledge and spirituality. Pedestal is two tired, square shaped, risen on the two level stylobate. Total height of the monument is 6,2 meters. Authors of the monument are Toktar Yermekov and Zhenis Zhubankosov, eminent culture figures of the Republic of Kazakhstan, sculptors, members of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan

Historical note: Abay (Ibragim) Kunanbayev is a great poet, philosopher, educator and a composer. He was born in 1845 in the Kaskabulak area, Abay district, at present it is the East Kazakhstan region. In relation with genre functions, Abay’s lyrics are multifunctional and comprehensive. He is a poet who added a new pattern to the language and the word in Kazakh poetry. He expanded the content and themes of Kazakh poetry, he created new genres in literature. He Skillfully translated the works of A.S. Pushkin, M. Yu. Lermontov and other poets and enriched Kazakh literature with ideas.
