Historical Information: The monument was installed in honor of Aktubinsk citizens, who fought for the establishment of Soviet power and during the Great Patriotic War. During the Civil War against the counterrevolution, Aktubinsk was a bulwark of the revolutionary forces of Turgai region.

During the Great Patriotic War, the Aktubinsk citizens showed a vivid example of courage and heroism, fighting against fascism, both in the Red Army and in partisan detachments at Moscow, Stalingrad, Ukraine and Belarus.

Monument description: The monument consists of the composite combination of the image of a soldier. The image of a soldier consists of such elements as budenovka (pointed helmet formerly worn by Red-Army men), Red Army overcoat, which were worn during the Civil War. The image has national features – convex face, narrowed eyes and wide nose. He holds a sword in his right hand raised up, while his left hand, lowered down, is depicted with a clenched fist. In honor of those killed on the front lines, the Eternal Flame burns, with the warrior looking on it. The monument is made of pink granite. It’s height is 18 meters.

In 2015, as part of the events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the monument was reconstructed. In particular, the configuration of the “hero-cities” memorial plates lined with granite on the memorial complex was changed, and behind them a wall of 3 meters high in the form of waving flag was installed.
