Name: “Keper – tamy” Mausoleum

Location: Aktobe region, Aitekebi district, 40 km to the east-north-east from Karabutak village, keft bank of Irgiz river
Description of monument: The octangular domic centrical mausoleum with rectangular entrance opening in southern edge. Externally the walls of octangle have framework decision: angle bands, seven rowed socle and poorly preserved cornice which was accomplished with breaking ledgement of curved bricks laid on the edge. Specific ribbed roll (which was preserved only in its northern part) turning into sphero-conal (false fornication) was installed above. Basement of dome is a two-tier system of spandrels – trumpet vaults. Mausoleum is constructed from mudbrick and laid with burnt, same size – 8 x 16 x 32 cm. Combined laying «in line» was used under the jacket layer. Main dimensions: a distance between opposite edges is – 9,50 meters; preserved height is – 6,50 meters.
Historical note: It is a significant sample of the Late Kazakh memorial art of building. The monument was firstly examined by the Western-Kazakhstan ethnographic expedition of Ch.Valikhanov Institute of history and ethnology, Academy of Science of Kaz SSR in 1987. (leader: S.I. Adzhigaliev)
