Monument-Bust to Talgat Bigeldinov, Twice Hero of the Soviet Union

Historical background: Talgat Yakubekovich Bigeldinov was a pilot, Major General of Aviation, and Twice Hero of the Soviet Union. He was born on 5 August 1922 in the Korgalzhyn District of Akmola Region. During the Great Patriotic War, he flew the Il-2 attack aircraft and completed 305 combat missions. For his courage, flying skill and outstanding bravery, he was twice awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

After the war, Talgat Bigeldinov continued his service and contributed to the development of Kazakhstan’s aviation infrastructure. The Military Institute of the Air Defence Forces in Aktobe bears his name. For the cadets of this institution, his life and service remain a powerful example of devotion to duty, courage and professional responsibility. Talgat Bigeldinov passed away on 10 November 2014.

Description of the monument: The monument-bust is cast in bronze. The height of the bust is 0.5 metres. The pedestal is faced with red porcelain stoneware, matching the overall colour composition of the monument. The pedestal is 2 metres high and 70 centimetres wide.

The monument-bust to Talgat Bigeldinov was solemnly unveiled in Aktobe on 20 June 2009. It was installed on the grounds of the Military Institute of the Air Defence Forces named after Talgat Bigeldinov as a tribute to the name and heroic legacy of the legendary pilot.

Historical and cultural significance: The monument honours Talgat Bigeldinov’s courage, military heroism and faithful service to his homeland. Its location on the grounds of a military educational institution gives it a special meaning: it is not only a memorial site, but also an educational symbol for future officers. The monument encourages young cadets to value courage, discipline, responsibility and loyalty to their country.
