Obelisk of Glory to the fallen residents of Aktobe for their Motherland in the war during the Great Patriotic War

The Obelisk of Glory of Aktobe residents who died during the Great Patriotic War was erected in August 1970. The monument is located in the central part of the city along A. Moldagulova Avenue. The creators of this monument are T. Janisbekov and the sculptor N. Sobolev. The total height of the obelisk of granite Glory is 19 m. In honor of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, it was decided to renew and change the obelisk. During the restoration work, only natural materials were used. Granite slabs have been ordered at the Kordai deposit in the Almaty region. About 160 tons of granite was delivered to Aktobe by carriages and trains. The total area of granite is 500 square meters, thickness is from 30 to 250 mm. Also, a granite board with a total length of 826 m was installed. In almost all wedding events in the city of Aktobe, young people visit the Obelisk of Glory and lay flowers at the Eternal Flame. The Aktobe Obelisk of Glory is one of the main attractions of the city of Aktobe and the pride of the local population.
