Monument to Tileu Batyr

Historical Background: Tileu Batyr Aituly was a Kazakh warrior of the seventeenth century and a contemporary of Khan Tauke. He is remembered as a military leader who defended his homeland, supported the unity of the people and fought for the integrity of the Kazakh steppe.

The name of Tileu Batyr is closely connected with the Sairam War. According to historical accounts and oral tradition, he led a 17,000-strong army of the Junior Zhuz and took part in the battles near Sairam. In 1684, Tileu Batyr died in one of the battles near the city. He was buried near the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkestan.
